Glacier Cruise - Seward

I took a Glacier Cruise with the Kenai Fjords tour group out of Seward.  The trip lasted 8 hours and included a buffet style lunch.  The boat did hit some rather turbulant water for about an hour on the way to the glacier.  I don't think that I've ever seen more use of the barf bag than on this particular trip.  For those of us unaffected by seasickness, or enough Dramamine to fool our bodies into believing that we are, the trip was excellent.  We saw most every kind of animal imaginable and stopped for a good look at the glacier itself.  This proved to be much more exciting than our previous stop at Exit Glacier because this was a Tidewater glacier, meaning that it edges on a body of water.  This made for some incredible splashing sounds as massive chunks of ice calved from the glacier.

The price for this was steep, but well worth it.  If you visit Alaska be sure to find your way aboard a glacier tour boat of some kind.  For those people that get sea-sick, try looking into taking a tour out of Whittier, where they promise smooth sailing all the way.
